Past MA and PhD Qualifying Exams
Every MA student who chooses the "Exam Option" rather than writing a Master's thesis must successfully take the MA exam in the semester they plan to graduate. Additionally, PhD students must take and pass a PhD qualifying exam in either their second semester (if they arrived with an MA) or their fourth semester (if they arrived with only a BA). The PhD qualifying exam is identical to the MA exam, except for how it is graded. Examples of past exams are provided below for current students to use to study for upcoming exams.
